A Day of Mary Quant

Today I went to two exhibitions surrounding the ground breaking London 60s designer, Mary Quant. The first the London's Swinging 60s, at the Fashion and Textile's Museum and the Second the Mary Quant exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Both showed the development of Mary Quant's iconic style and her influence of the emerging youth culture. It showed her bold use of printed textiles and her influences from history. She innovated a very chic raincoat collection made from PVC not without difficulties though taking over a year to perfect with problems keeping it rain proof. But of course she was famous for popularising the iconic mini skirt. I loved her unique style that defined a generation of youth style and put the London Fashion Scene on the map.

Today to the exhibitions I wore a Sheer Topshop top with Asos Bralette and Black Skinny Jeans from Dorthy Perkins (which by the way are the first pair to fit like a clover and they did break the bank!).

Item of the Week: Hawaiian Print Skirt

I loved this Hawaiian Skirt from Valentino. The print is so bold and makes me feel the warmth of the upcoming spring.  The simplicity of the garment is what makes it chic and so easy to style and effortless to pull of thats why its this weeks item of the week. However if you don't have a spare £650 (No me either!) then I found a fairly good alternative. Get the effortless and warm spring look from Forever 21 for a more affordable £16. Its not quite up to Valentino but it will do!

Trend: Utility How to Style it...

I really love the new trend Utility for the Spring/Summer. It can look really cool effortless and chic if done right.  I really like the clean cut feel it has but also the use of pockets and hard wear like buckles to give it a punchy edge.
I feel like it could be a risky one to try if this isn't normally you kind of style so I have come up with some styling options in the pictures below and because I found so many other cool pieces when look for options I but the rest in a slide show below they all come from Topshop or NewLook.

Day with Dior

So yesterday I went to the hotly anticipated Dior Designer of Dreams exhibition at the fabulous Victoria and Albert Museum. The layout took you through the time of Dior own designs and then into the eras of the creative directors. Thats not to say there wasn't a few later on peppered in there. The amount of dresses the cleaver layout and the atmosphere it created was amazing. It took me an 1 hour and 35 mins to go round but I could of easily taken longer. It was truly amazing the details of the Haute Couture and the stunning tailoring. I took a lot of photos but I choose my favourite few which was a hard task!
